COME SEE PARAGUAY

Paraguay is a country where nature blends with history. Its exuberance stems from the richness of its soil and subsoil, forests and fields, translucent sky, breezes and waterways; from the diversity of races of its inhabitants; from the struggles that take place within its frontiers; from its archetypal men and women and its multitudes.

Located in the heart of South America, between parallels 19º 18' and 27º 3' south latitude between meridians 54º 15' and 62º 38' west of Greenwich, Paraguay borders to the north with Brazil and Bolivia, to the east with Brazil and Argentina, to the South with Argentina, and to the west with Argentina and Bolivia.

The assortment, quality and singularity of the attractions of this country make it a destination of seduction for tourists. The River Paraguay is the main river of the country: It divides Paraguay into two natural regions with differing morphology: a mountainous area to the east called Región Oriental (Eastern Region) with the Amambay, Mbaracayú, San Joaquín and Caaguazú mountain ranges and impressive forests. The other region is called Región Occidental (Western Region) and it is made up of extensive plains known as the Chaco. The Chaco covers two thirds of the Paraguayan territory and the River Pilcomayo coming from Bolivia is the border with Argentina to the south.

Although the country has no direct access to the sea, it is crisscrossed by an abundance of rivers, lakes and streams which make up the important Plata Basin. Paraguay also hosts the Guaraní Aquifer considered one of the largest freshwater reserves in the world. The Paraguayan territory covers a total of 406,752 square kilometers.

Together with plentiful flowers and extraordinary sunsets, the capital city Asunción is a modern and cosmopolitan city that provides abundant hotels, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters and avenues.
